Phyllis Jean (Baker) Dance
April 19, 1936 – January 26,2021

Loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, friend

Wolcott – Mrs. Phyllis J. (Baker) Dance, 84, of Wolcott, entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 @ Apple Rehab in Watertown, CT, surrounded by her loving family at her bedside. She was married to Albert William Dance for 32 years. She was predeceased by Albert on March 6, 1992.

Phyllis, aka Flicka, Philly, was born in Westfield, MA, on April 19,1936, daughter of the late Mr. William Baker & Mrs. Helena (Lemanski) Baker. Growing up in Westfield, Phyllis was one of eight children, which five of her siblings are deceased; Bucky, Richard, Donny, Mike, Russell, & sister, Doris (Baker) Teodore. She went to Prospect Hill Elementary and then to Springfield Trade School to be a baker/cake decorator.

Phyllis came from a musical family. Four of her brothers had a country western band & Phyllis & sister, Doris were the singers. The band playing at a dude ranch called the Lost Wilderness in Winsted, CT, is where she met her future husband, Albert W. Dance of Waterbury, CT. Then in 1955, they were married & started a family and resided in Waterbury til 1969 & moved to Wolcott, CT to present.

She was a stay-at-home mom til her children were in middle & high school. Her places of employment were Sears, Bradlees, a little family-owned factory in Waterbury. And later in years she became a cake decorator at Costco for 10 years then retired.

Phyllis loved cooking for everyone. She loved family dinners, enjoying her grandsons' & great-grandson's sporting events. She went to mostly all their practices from t-ball at the BAW, park & rec basketball, pop warner football to high school baseball, basketball & football. For her granddaughter, Phalon, she helped me raise her. The three of us lived together & she would help Phalon with homework, she never missed any school event, dance recital, or any cheerleading competition. Phyllis would go with me to every football game she'd cheered at. She loved the NY Yankees, NY Giants, NY Rangers, & the NY Knicks. She played the piano. Loved singing with us, dancing, loved music.

Phyllis leaves three children, Ms. Roxanne Dance, Rhonda (Dance) & husband, Louis Rinaldi all of Wolcott, & son Albert W. Dance & wife, Mary (Coppola) now residing in Murrells Inlet, SC. She leaves one granddaughter, Phalon Dance, & 4 grandsons, Louie Rinaldi, Jordan Rinaldi, Charlie Dance, Albie Dance & wife, Courtney (Whittle) Dance. And, 2 great-grandchildren, Anthony Dance & Gabriella Dance. She also leaves, a brother, Paul Baker of MA., brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Mr. James (Rawhide)Dance & wife, Marion (Begley)Dance & so many nieces & nephews in CT & MA. She loved them all.

Phyllis will be in Heaven with two nieces, Rosanne Dance, Holly Nastri & a sister-in-law who recently decease, Patti (Dance) Nastri. And we know she will be greeted by her "partner in crime", Mrs. Paula (Cappellina) Tiso. Phyllis will have lots of laughs together with Paula & Aunt Patti.

Phyllis truly loved life & her family & friends. Our Mom will be so missed by all of us.

The family will announce a "Celebration of Life" Mass in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the CT Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

And we truly want to thank Apple Rehab in Watertown for taking her in as a resident caring for her this past year. And to her beautiful, loving, thoughtful, caring nurses & aides to name a few, Ebony, Christina, Cheryl, Taresha, Greg, Tanaya, Rowena, Bethany (TikTok), Michelle, Diana, Arlene, Joy, Claudine (CC), Nelka & if I missed anyone, I'm so sorry but love to all the " Courtland Crew". We love all of you. You were Mom's family for the past year & now our extended family. God Bless you all.
